VA Palo Alto Health Care System

Facility Planning

The VA Palo Alto Health Care System is planning to expand in order to meet the demands of an increasing number of veterans, in the areas that are central to largest population of veterans.

Livermore and the Central Valley
Veterans in the Livermore and Central Valley areas will have a new state-of-the-art nursing home and outpatient facilities to improve access to health care services.

There will be NO changes at the Livermore VA until the new facilities are opened, which is estimated to take place in 2015.

The specific location for the new nursing home and clinic are currently being considered, so that these new facilities serve the largest number of our veterans.

Fremont and Hayward
Currently, the VA Palo Alto Health Care System is seeking approval to lease a new 10,000 square foot clinic in the Freemont/Hayward area.  We anticipate opening the clinic in October of 2008.  This clinic will be leased only until the new VA-owned and operated clinic can be constructed around 2015.

Stockton and Modesto
In Stockton and Modesto we are seeking approval to expand the current clinics by an additional 10,000 square feet each to provide more services such as pharmacy and radiology.  This will reduce the number of veterans in those areas from having to travel to Livermore as they do now.
