Suicide Hot Line
To ensure veterans with emotional crises have round-the-clock access to trained professionals, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has established a 24-hour national suicide prevention hotline number: 1-800-273-TALK (8255).  Veterans, who may be contemplating suicide and concerned family and friends, have immediate access to a trained mental health professional who can help.

Assistance is available to help women veterans determine eligibility for VA services and complete necessary steps for enrollment.

OIF/OEF Combat Veterans Eligibility:  You may be eligible for FREE VA Medical Care for 2-years following your separation from military services.  Seamless Transition provides benefits information and assistance to eligible veterans who honorably fought and served in our Nation's armed forces.  Please see the Returning Veterans Fact sheet for more information:    http://www1.va.gov/opa/fact/docs/returning_vets.doc

Primary Care & Health Promotion

Women’s health consultation, education, and direct clinical services for risk assessment, health promotion, and health maintenance.  Ongoing coordination with Women's Health Clinic. 

Returning Women's Health Connection Clinic
Integrated health care visit for thorough health screening and assessment.  Meet with a physician,health promotion specialist, and social worker during one convenient visit.

Women Veterans Health Program
The VA Palo Alto Health Care System's (VAPAHCS) Women Veterans Health Center at Palo Alto   provides a full range of medical services.  WPOEC collaborates closely with the Women'sHealth Center to including primary care, preventive health screening, gender specific care for breast and cervical cancer screening, reproductive care, and other health care services.

Outreach and education efforts to increase awareness of VA services available for women veterans,  including:

Returning Women's Group:  Women who have worked in support of efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan are welcome join to discuss your transition from military to civilian life. Women are encouraged to share, listen, relate, and learn.

Wellness Program: 
Our staff will work as a liaison between the VA health system and the female veteran to create an individual wellness plan, including eligibility information and benefits, connection to health services, and well-being assessment.
