Women's Health Clinic

The VA Palo Alto Health Care System's (VAPAHCS) Women Veterans Health Center has been in existence since 1988.  The Veterans Health Care Act of 1992 enabled VA to dramatically improve its programs for women veterans to the state-of-the-art facilities that focus on women's health, creating an environment that is warm, comfortable and private.

Medical Services 
  • Primary Care
  • Breast self-examination
  • Preventive Health Screening
  • Close collaboration with all VA clinics
  • Gender Specific Care including breast & cervical cancer screening
  • Osteoporosis evaluation and care; comprehensive OIF/OEF clinic
  • Surgical services for oncology, urinary incontinence, & gynecological disorders
  • Reproductive Health Care, including gynecological care, infertility evaluation and genetic testing. Appropriate referral for obstetrical care.

Mental Health and Sexual Trauma Counseling

The VA Palo Alto Health Care System is committed to assisting women veterans with their psychosocial needs.

Services include:

  • Sexual trauma counseling
  • Substance abuse treatment
  • Psychological support groups
  • Vocational rehabilitation programs
  • Programs for survivors of domestic violence
  • Evaluation and treatment for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Current research involving stress, end of life issues, depression, PTSD and Military Sexual Trauma (MST) counseling on medical, spiritual, social, and wellness issues.
